Source: soundboard recording (for radio broadcast). Lineage: SDB > ??? > silverpressed bootleg CD > WAV[*] > SHN. [*] Exact bit-for-bit digital extraction from CD to WAV files done with ``cdparanoia''. The bootleg suspiciously fits the concert on a single disc, which indicates it is not the complete concert, as Waits usually played much longer sets. This recording is mislabeled with the date "March 1979" on the Kiss The Stone silverpressed bootleg CD. The correct date was traced down by members of the "raindogs" mailinglist (a Tom Waits fan community). There is now little doubt that 1979-05-02 is the correct date, but any additional proof for (or against) this date would still be appreciated. It is said to be a JJ recording (Double Jay radiostation with Australian DJ Richard Kingsmill), so if anyone wants to try to track down the master tape you know where to start. Double J is no more, but resurfaced later as "Triple J"[*], which is still broadcasting. They probably still have the master tape for this show in their vaults. Third, please join in and suggest for Waits's current recording label Epitaph[*] that they could release this show as an official bootleg, á la what is being done with the famous "The Bootleg Series" for Bob Dylan. This show seem to be generally regarded as one of the finest Waits live recordings available. An amazing performance, with brilliant sound quality. It has been bootlegged and re-bootlegged numerous times, and it would have been appreciated by the fans if Epitaph could get hold of and release the complete concert.
